Often underestimated is the power of two, think Laurel and Hardy, Thelma and Louise, Miss Piggy and Kermit. My point is, famous twosomes have always been a subject the masses love, and they just work. I think this concept can be intriguingly combined with style, creating a refreshing way of wearing two classic items (although I imagine wearing two shirts at once could be the blogger equivalent of a straight jacket). Recently we’ve seen office wear return to a more casual look, and I feel as though there isn’t much guidance out there for the fashionably bold man, which inspired me to put together this post outlining 3 outfits suitable for this shift in trend.
It all stems down to the power of two. Two typical ‘office wear’ pieces in the form of a shirt and trousers, shaping the foundational idea but upgrading in the details. Try opting for a shirt in a graphic print (like a bold stripe) instead of the plain blue one we wear every other day, or throw on a different coloured t-shirt underneath an unbuttoned shirt to add a touch of casual. Whichever way you incorporate this trend, just remember to keep the basic two pieces and you can’t go wrong. I also found that this technique highly effectively in hiding evidence of frantic runnings from room-to-room yelling ‘I HAVE NOTHING TO WEAR’ while tearing through GQ for inspiration. (Thank me later).
