We have somewhat gracefully arrived at that time of year again. Which, by the way, is not usually the mood of which I arrive in for the festive period. Most of the time, I feels as if we’re picked up straight after Halloween, transported faster than anyone can say “ho ho ho” right through to Christmas and then seldom have the change to even stumble clumsily through the Christmas section of the local card shop. However, this year feels different; I’ve become increasingly more festive as the weeks tick by, which is a much more satisfying way of ‘getting into the Christmas spirit’ than being thrusted into it.
Another typical characteristic that comes with this time of year is the cold as BALLS weather. Now there is a positive to this situation, aside from the scent of mince pies filling the tube network (mainly because I’ve resorted to just carrying them in my bag for easy reach), but I am firmly rooted in the belief that winter style is just better. It allows you to layer, bundle and get you knits out as much as you please. I’m much more at home in a cashmere crew neck and wide leg trousers (hides food babies) than in skimpy summer gear barely covering my modesty. Alas, bask in the glory of puffer season, the ‘most wonderful time of the year’.
